Madman Entertainment Purchase 2019: Buying Manga

Recently there was the big annual sale on Madman Entertainment where there was big sales on manga. There were a lot of good discounts, and I purchased some manga that usually wouldn't go down in prices much, even when looking at BookDepository or Amazon. I purchased Volumes 1 to 3 of Goblin Slayer manga, and since the total cost wasn't at least $50, I had to purchase another manga. I was staking out Terra Formars Volume 1, since it was ridiculously discounted from $18.99 AUD to around $9. Dips in manga prices are usually rare since manga is not something that changes in value over time. As expected, Terra Formars Volume 1 was sold out, so I just opted to buy Food Wars Volume 1 since I like the series a lot and it was one of the lower priced ones too. Keep in mind that mangas with parental advisory labels are always wrapped in plastic (to prevent little kiddies from reading them)

Price:
I got Volume 1 to 3 of Goblin Slayer manga & Volume 1 of Food Wars for $50.12 AUD altogether (GST included). The breakdown is $13.46 for each Goblin Slayer volume and $9.74 for Food Wars. Those prices are definitely the lowest I seen, especially for an Aussie like me. It may not the best cheapest price in the US, but prices in US are always low since there's such a big market. So it's definitely worth buying during their annual sale at the start of the year.

Packaging:
When I got the package, the packaging was not what I expected because the box was not your usual box you use as a parcel. However, that's not a problem. There was protection given to the books, but only at the top of the box. They should chuck some at the sides at the every least, since those areas are the most likely areas for damage. Other than that, the packaging was good, and the protection they used was made from recycled materials.

Speed of Delivery:
The order processing was 2 working days (fair) and the delivery was only 3 working days from Sydney to Brisbane. Nice! No tracking number, but if you put the delivery address as a Parcel Locker or Parcel Collect, full tracking is given, and those services are free anyway.

Overall Verdict (GOOD):
  • Fast delivery service (Australian standards)
  • Amazing prices (during annual sale)
  • Environmentally friendly packaging
  • More protection needed on the sides of the manga inside the parcel (like one of those protection packets, pictured on the right, on both sides would have sealed the deal)
