Nendoroid #191: Konjiki no Yami REVIEW (To Love Ru)

This was the first Nendoroid and the first anime figure I ever got. I got three nendoroids at once at a decent bargain from Mandrake. Despite being second-hand, I will have to say that the prices are relatively fair. Even the shipping was fair (about $33 ish dollars) and that is surprising for international shipping. It got here in 7 normal days and it seemed almost as fast as EMS to Australia, and EMS was $49 Australian dollars. Saving $16 is a lot of money cause over time you can have enough money to buy another Nendoroid. Anyway enough of my waffling, let's get onto the figure.

I got Yami for 2800 yen (which is about $33 AUD), and its RRP was 3600 yen (so a saving of 800 yen). The figure quality itself was not bad. The front pane was peeling off but I just super glued it and it fixed it super easily. I don't get how the store couldn't glue it properly and saving money on glue is definitely stupid if they were thinking of that. Anyway, the default figure (the figure that comes straight out when you open it) is of very good quality. There is so much detail to her for only 2800 yen. The newer nendoroids don't have that much detail and she also has detachable ponytails. The front hair piece fit well - not too loose and not too tight.  The nendoroid smelt a bit bad when you sniff it close. The other figures I got (newer versions) didn't have this smell. But it's a figure, I only look at it, so the smell isn't too bad.
One problem I encountered was fitting the hair piece that has the fists (AHHHH pervert Rito LOL).
The front hair piece didn't completely connect with this special hair piece meaning that there was a small gap (0.1 - 0.3 cm at most) between the back and front hair piece. It wasn't going to fall out anytime soon, but it can look a bit annoying from the topside. I didn't really mind it but my normal figure case specifically for one figure didn't fit since the special hair piece was very big. However, the special hair piece is super solid and super high quality. This is a very good prop.

Ignore the background. My desk sure is messy.
The pose where Yami has a bag of Taiyaki is so cute and you can see the picture below. Way too cute. One problem was that the taiyaki were not connected to the bag so it can fall out if you are not careful. However, the end of a taiyaki can be fit onto one of the special hand pieces given. What pissed me off the most was this special hand/arm piece not having the part that allows us to attach it to the body. The other pieces have it, but why doesn't this piece have it. I thought it was just mine but looking at the packaging, it seemed like they purposely did it. Really? A bit disappointing and annoying since I have to detach the connecting piece from another hand/arm piece.
What surprised me the most was the magnetic stand. The part connecting to the base is your standard connect the piece to the hole. However the part connecting the nendoroid to that connecting piece is a magnet. The back of the head also has a magnet, sot that's why it connected. This was amazing since it was just the right amount of magnetic attraction. One thing I could complain is the design of that connecting piece. It wasn't as versatile as the newer ones.

Overall Score: 8/10
Overall, this Nendoroid was worth the price I bought it at. The total came to (2800 [figure cost] + 945 yen [shipping costs] = 3745 yen), and this equates to about $46.36 AUD (1 AUD = 80.78 JPY). That's a pretty good deal. The magnetic connecting piece should be implemented in newer ones. It's so easy to use - easy to detach figure and easy to connect the figure. Would I buy it at its normal RRP of 3600 yen? Yes. I am sure there would have been bargains from other stores too since this price is from GoodSmile itself (and we know Goodsmile loves to inflate prices).
